Taxation & the economy

Obviously the economy is fucked and taxation is a huge part of the economy and one of the major things people consider when they vote etc. Obviously they consider how much money they would have after tax to spend on necessities and luxuries. As it's an important topic these days I wondered what people's views were on here about this? Should taxes be higher, lower etc etc.
